Biography
Cheryl Wnuk
Artist Statement and Background
My drawings are about places that attract me by their mystery and beauty.
I refer to photos to intuitively capture the qualities of light and mood; and memory, to recall the emotional effect these places have on me.
The qualities that I try to capture become poetic expressions of my own inner state as much as they are recreations of a given, external locale.
My goal is to be open to my subliminal consciousness, and to charge the image with as much feeling as possible.
The expressive interpretation of nature as felt, not just seen, is what drives my artistic vision.
